Parents as Teachers Expands Services

Transitions’ Parents as Teachers Program has expanded services and now serves children, ages three to five.  The program has provided home visiting services to children from birth to age three for many years.   Thanks to grant funding from the Tracy Family Foundation and the State of Illinois, the program can now continue to serve children beyond their third birthdays.

Parents as Teachers is a nationally recognized, evidence-based program for young children and their parents.   The goal of the program is to help parents aid their child’s healthy development.  Services promote the development of motor skills, speech and language skills, and social/emotional development.  There is no cost for the services.  Referrals for Parents as Teachers services can be made by calling (217) 223-0413, Ext. 372.
